BROOKLYN HEIGHTS APARTMENT                                                                  amanda potter

This complete gut renovation to a studio apartment in Brooklyn Heights was all about working closely with clients to achieve fast and effective results. The clients, musicians Geoffrey Hull and Allison Loggins along with their newborn son, wanted to transform a small, dingy apartment into a gracious modern space. In this project every square inch mattered. A cramped and lightless kitchen was opened up to the light and views while maintaining some autonomy and separate ventilation. A built-in “Murphy bed” was used to free up a central living space. Inexpensive off-the shelf-moveable furniture and built-in storage allows several dining and living configurations, making the most of limited floor area. Lighting and ceiling planes were designed to create a sculptural landscape with dept and shadow. The clients led the construction process to reduce to manage costs and schedule.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS PROJECT
