Study Boats

STUDY BOATS

Thousands of college campuses across America have direct access to small bodies of water, lakes, ponds and rivers, yet often have very little functional engagement with them. Meanwhile, extensive research shows that “informal interaction” between students is vital in post-secondary education. Pilot Projects has integrated these two realities into a new product concept called the Study Boat™. Study Boats are small, floating conference rooms that use pedal and solar power to navigate and provide connectivity. One to six students can use a Study Boat to escape the distractions of campus, and concentrate social activity and learning. Study boats allow the campus and the informal learning landscape to extend into a unique setting. This product is currently under development.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Pretty much everything.
